AUTM Western Regional Meeting
The AUTM western regional meeting will be held in Boulder at the St. Juilen Hotel, July 16-18.
The Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), which is the professional association for TTOs, is holding its summer regional meeting in Boulder this year. The western region includes universities as far east as CU, and we expect representatives from CSU, NREL, U WY, U MT, U NM, U AZ, U UT, and the various west coast public & private universities and national labs. We expect about 150 attendees. Because the Boulder community is so interested in technology transfer, we are putting a strong Colorado stamp on the meeting. Several local law firms, as well as one VC, have offered to participate through speaking, as well as through sponsorships.
The program theme is "the mission of technology transfer." On Sunday, two panels will discuss TTO - IP law firm partnerships and best practices, followed by case studies and discussion. The Monday and Tuesday session topics are TBD.
Through the sponsorships, we plan to offer a secondary educational track. We have secured the entire St. Julien ballroom, and as such can offer the in-conference-room sponsorships. We plan to have classroom seating for 150 in the front of the room, a little open space for mingling, and the back of the room divided into halves for two sponsors. Each sponsor will have table space for presentation materials and for food for between-break grazing. There will also be space behind the tables for posters or other displays, which will be geared towards the technical aspects of patent and technology law. As topic ideas develop, we will coordinate the presentations among the other sponsors, as well as with the general program.
