What Every University Inventor Needs to Know About Licensing Technology from the University of Colorado

This is an intensive session covering many of the basic issues about university technology transfer. Three presenters will discuss issues from different perspectives. David Allen, Assoc VP, is the University's principle technology transfer office. Doug Collier is Exec Director of the Boulder Innovation Center, an organization that links CU inventors and intellectual property to experienced entrepreneurs and financing sources. Jim Linfield, Managing Partner at Cooley Godward in Broomfield is legal counsel to approximately half the companies that license IP from CU. Special attention will be given to starting new companies based on university intellectual property. The last half hour will include a mock negotiation. Pizza and refreshments will be served.
