CU Appoints New Technology Transfer Director for UCCS

Boulder, CO

Ken Porter has been named Director for the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs technology transfer office, according to David Allen, Associate Vice President for Technology Transfer. CU's technology transfer office (TTO) is responsible for overseeing all discovery oriented intellectual property and technology licensing activities within the four-campus system.

Dr. Porter, who is also director for the Boulder Campus TTO, has been working remotely with UCCS sponsored programs and inventions for some time. He will now be directly involved in all phases of campus technology transfer. Dr. Porter will be on campus frequently to meet with faculty, students, and administrators.

The UCCS campus has active inventors in the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences, Engineering and Applied Science, and the Beth El College of Nursing and Sciences.

TTO also works closely with the CU Institute of Bioenergetics, Network Information and Space Security Center (NISSC), and the Colorado Institute for Technology Transfer Implementation (CITTI).

Similarly to collaborations with Boulder Leeds School of Business, plans are underway to involve students and faculty of the UCCS College of Business. UCCS TTO will be a "Learning Laboratory" for technology commercialization.

TTO Licensing associates are already working with inventors on active cases - Liza Eschbach in Engineering and Kate Tallman in Computer Software, also for all other software disclosures. Ken Porter will also have case management responsibilities, primarily for inventions arising from the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences.

Dr. Porter can be reached at 303-735-1109 or Ken.Porter@colorado.edu.
