Zvi Vapni:
Deputy Consul General of Israel

Zvi Vapni assumed the position of Deputy Consul General in the Consulate General of Israel in Los Angeles as of August 2000.

Mr.Vapni arrived in Los Angeles after heading the Congressional Desk of the North American Division in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In this capacity, he coordinated relations between the Israeli government and the American Congress, and followed the Congressional arena, with specific emphasis on legislative activity regarding Israel and the Middle East. During his career as a professional diplomat, Mr.Vapni served as Deputy Chief of Mission in the Embassy of Israel in Sofia, Bulgaria, and as Deputy Consul General in the Consulate General of Israel in Atlanta.

Born in Petach Tikva in 1963, Mr.Vapni served with the Israeli Defense Forces in Military Intelligence from 1982 to 1985. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in both Jewish and European History from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, where he received his Master's Degree in European History in 1991. While working for his degrees, he led tours specializing in the history and archaeology of Jerusalem, and he lectured at the Open University, which afforded him the opportunity to teach and travel throughout Israel

Doron Abrahami:
Consul for Economic Affairs

Mr. Doron Abrahami assumed the position of Consul for Economic Affairs of Israel in Los Angeles in August 2001.

Prior to arriving in Los Angeles Mr. Abrahami spent the last 9 years in different positions in the Ministry of Industry of Trade. In his last position in the ministry Mr. Abrahami was the Director of the European department responsible for Israel's commercial representatives in Europe - Israel's largest trade partner. The position included participating in and arranging special work groups to promote Israeli business abroad. One example is Athens 2004, which was formed together with the Israel Export Institute (IEI), to promote Israeli participation in the construction works of the Olympic games that will take place in Athens 2004.

In parallel to his work in the foreign trade administration, Mr. Abrahami was the chairman of the Internet committee in the Ministry www.moit.gov.il holding the mandate to upgrade the ministry's web site.

From 1994 to 1998, Mr. Abrahami spent four years in Athens, Greece as First Secretary for Economic Affairs at the Israeli Embassy. Mr. Abrahami was in charge of promoting trade and mutual investments between Israel and Greece, arranging trade fairs, business seminars, issuing economical bulletins, as well as numerous additional programs to promote Israeli interests.

Mr. Abrahami holds a Bachelor of Technology in Industrial Management from Shenkar High School of Engineering and Design, which is located in Ramat Gan. www.shenkar.ac.il. During study there, Mr. Abrahami served as the student association chairperson.

Mr. Abrahami served on the Board of Directors of Israel Student Travel Association (ISTA), one of Israel's biggest travel companies. Mr. Abrahami was also a member of the General Assembly of IEI (www.iei.gov.il)
