Fundamentals of Intellectual Property and Patents

Presented by the CU Technology Transfer Office (TTO) and
the Colorado Alliance for BioEngineering (CAB), join us for the second
in a monthly series of intellectual property (IP) and business seminars
for the biotech research community.
For the August seminar we will begin with a presentation
for the entire research community on Fundamentals of Intellectual Property
and Patents. Immediately following the fundamentals session we will
begin a technology focused session on IP Strategies in Drug Delivery.
Schedule:
7:30 a.m. - Networking, morning refreshments and pastry
8:00 a.m. - Fundamentals of Intellectual Property and Patents
9:30 a.m. - IP Strategies in Drug Delivery
Place: Denison Auditorium, UCHSC 9th Ave. Campus
Speaker for both sessions: Steve Petersen is a partner
at Hogan & Hartson L.L.P. A registered patent attorney, Mr. Petersen
represents universities and corporations in matters involving IP rights
in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, proteins,
and biological and chemical processes. Prior to law school, Mr. Petersen
worked as a molecular geneticist at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute
in Utah. Mr. Petersen received his B.S. in biology from the University
of Nebraska. He later worked towards a M.S. in molecular genetics at the
University of Utah prior to attending the University of Denver, where
he received his J.D. in 1992.
