University of Colorado Regent Steve Bosley is a proud University of Colorado alumnus who has served the citizens of Colorado since 2004 as a member of the CU Board of Regents, the governing body that oversees four campuses and nearly 56,000 students.

Bosley represents the entire state of Colorado as an at-large member of the nine-member board. In 2010, he was re-elected to a second six-year term. Currently, he serves as the budget and finance committee chair and is a member of the intercollegiate athletics and the strategic planning committees. He has chaired CU’s Investment Advisory Committee since 2005.

During his first term, he served two consecutive years as board chair and one year as board vice chair. Additionally, he chaired the presidential search committees that recommended the appointments of former CU President and U.S. Senator Hank Brown in 2005, and current CU President Bruce D. Benson in 2008.

Bosley earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from CU in 1968. In 2003, the university recognized his dedication to higher education and his community by awarding him an honorary doctorate.

In addition to his work on the Board of Regents, Bosley’s service to higher education includes sharing his business expertise as a guest lecturer and serving as a founding member of the Deming Entrepreneurship Advisory Board in the CU Leeds School of Business. In CU’s NROTC program, he lectured on the honor code, ethics, and leadership. He lectured in the honor code program and systems engineering at the U.S. Military Academy (West Point).

Bosley is an experienced businessman who worked in Colorado’s banking and finance industry for more than 30 years. He served as president and CEO of an independent community bank, The Bank of Boulder, from 1974 to 1998.

A running and fitness enthusiast, in 1979 Bosley merged his entrepreneurial passion with his love of running to create the world-renowned Bolder Boulder 10K road race, a Memorial Day weekend tradition that draws more than 50,000 amateur and professional runners from around the globe, as well as an estimated 50,000 spectators.

In 2009, Runner’s World magazine recognized the Bolder Boulder as the “Best All Time 10K Race in America.” From 1979 to 1998, Bosley served as Bolder Boulder executive director, and continues as a race adviser and consultant. For his creation of the race and his dedication to the sport of running, Bosley has been recognized as a U.S. Race Director of the Year, and was inducted into the inaugural class of the Running USA Hall of Fame, and the Colorado Distance Running Hall of Fame.

Bosley has received many state and national awards and accolades for his professional and civic endeavors.
