PSC Training Programs

GENERAL PURCHASING & PAYABLES TRAINING: How to Buy and Pay for Items at CU
In-person training, offered on a monthly or bimonthly basis on all campuses. Completion of this class, plus completion of the relevant companion online finance/procurement training course, is required for authorization to use the University’s Finance System.  Also recommended as a refresher course for current users of the financial database.  Topics covered include:

  • how to purchase goods and services at CU;
  • how to travel;
  • how to complete Payment Vouchers and Travel Vouchers;
  • how to create Purchase Orders and PO Requisitions on-line, and how to do receiving so that PO invoices are paid promptly; and,
  • how to create Standing Purchase Order Requisitions for new and renewed SPOs, and how to authorize payment of SPO invoices.

Interested individuals should contact their campus finance office to register for procurement and finance training:

PROCUREMENT CARD TRAINING
Online training programs for cardholders and approving officials. Completion of the relevant online course is required in order to obtain a University Procurement Card (cardholder training) and to serve as a department Approving Official (approving official training).  Topics covered include:

  • cardholder responsibilities;
  • restricted purchases;
  • violations and warnings; and,
  • documentation requirements.

Interested individuals should complete the appropriate form(s) on the PSC web site and fax to the PSC Procurement Card office. PSC staff will contact future cardholders and designated new approving officials with online course registration information. (For reallocator training, see PSC Documentation.)

SPECIAL TOPIC WORKSHOPS: Ad Hoc Policy/Procedure Training Sessions
The PSC periodically offers special training opportunities focusing on topics of interest to department staff responsible for University purchasing, payables, and travel.  Interested individuals can learn of ad hoc training by subscribing to the PSC COMMUNICATOR newsletter.
