It's never too late to go back to college and earn a degree, yet some find the prospect daunting and the process intimidating. It doesn't have to be. Since its launch in March 2009, the CU Complete program at the CU-Boulder Division of Continuing Education has worked with more than 400 students, enrolled more than 100 and graduated 78; another 80 have asked for assistance.

The program provides academic, financial aid and career advisers to assist students in returning to CU-Boulder. The program also offers assistance and referrals for enrollment at a variety of colleges or universities in the state and works with students on transferring credits from other colleges and universities.

Anne Heinz

"Limited time and money are the primary barriers standing in the way of degree completion for most students," explained Anne Heinz, dean of continuing education at CU-Boulder. In addition, many students needed more flexibility - online and evening courses - to fit their educational goals into their already busy lives, she said.

Recently, Heinz heard back from a Leeds Business School graduate who had completed his degree. He wrote: "Completing my degree has been one of the most satisfying things I've done in my life and I wouldn't have been able to do it without the CU Complete program. . . . It has now been a year since completing my degree and I can't begin to tell you what a difference it has made in my personal and professional life."

This graduate's academic and personal growth is only one of the many successes the CU Complete program has fostered, reinforcing that it is never too late to finish your college degree.
