Six honored as CU Distinguished Professors
I am pleased to announce this year's recipients of the university's most prestigious faculty honor, the Distinguished Professor designation. Six faculty members from our campuses will be honored for their exemplary performance in research or creative work, excellence in classroom teaching and supervision of individual learning, and outstanding service to the profession, university and its affiliates.
The 2012 Distinguished Professors are Christopher N. Bowman, engineering, CU-Boulder; Robert "Bob" Camley, physics, UCCS; Richard Hamman, epidemiology, CU Anschutz Medical Campus; James "Casey" Hynes, biochemistry, CU-Boulder; Richard Krugman, medicine, CU Anschutz Medical Campus; and Pierre Schlag, law, CU-Boulder.
I reviewed nominations from CU's campuses, with the recommendation of a committee of Distinguished Professors, and forwarded the candidates' names to the Board of Regents, which will vote on the nominations at the board's Nov. 14-15 meeting.
Congratulations to this new class of honorees and thank you for your hard work and dedication to CU.
