Stepping up in tragedy's wake

The University of Colorado community extends its deepest condolences and continued support to the victims, family and friends affected by the tragic shooting July 20 in Aurora.

We are deeply grateful to the medical team at the University of Colorado Hospital for its response in the wake of this tragedy. The shootings were followed by extraordinary efforts by medical professionals at UCH and the CU Anschutz Medical Campus, as well as public and private displays and offerings of assistance for the victims, their families and extended community.

Since learning that the shooting suspect is a former student of the Graduate School, the university has fully cooperated with all aspects of the investigation, including the court order that prohibits the university from releasing information. For more details, read this statement by Don Elliman, chancellor, CU Denver, and Lilly Marks, vice president for health affairs, University of Colorado, executive vice chancellor, CU Anschutz Medical Campus.
