University Management Systems uses Berkley Internet Name Domain (BIND) or Domain Name Service (DNS) to manage its host and IP address space.

If you need an IP contact datacom@cusys.edu as they are the keepers of IP addresses for our networks.

If you suspect an application or connection isn’t working right it could be a DNS issue.  Our office network uses Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to automatically assign your PC to an IP address. Somewhere in the update the reverse file is appended instead of overwritten and you could end up “sharing” your IP with one or more hostnames.  If this is the case, telnet, intranet web browsing and other application may not work.  Send an e-mail to unix_support@cusys.edu to have someone take a look at it.  Also check out the Troubleshooting page for more ways to contact us.
